Mission Regional Medical Center Foundation needs the following items on behalf of the patients we care for as the nonprofit hospital serving western Hidalgo and Starr Counties.
1) The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) needs knit baby blankets, caps and booties for our "Little Miracles." Many of them will leave the hospital with their familes and return home to substandard housing that may or may not have sufficient heat for the winter.
2) The Emergency Department is seeking new bicycle helmets for distribution to children during the holiday season, as part of an education and prevention program they are doing for traumatic head injuries.
3) Guest Relations is seeking coloring books and crayons for children. These would be used not only for patients admitted to Pediatrics, but where ever needed, such as the Emergency Department, Surgery waiting room, and Main Lobby.
4) The Forensic Unit is seeking new underwear for mostly women and children who are victims of acute sexual assault and abuse. Adults and children receiving medical treatment and forensic examination at the hospital need clothing to wear home, because their clothes are taken into evidence.
5) Our in-patient Rehabilitation Department is seeking sweatpants and sweatshirts for patients who do not have clothing to wear during physical therapy.
6) Our Medical & Surgical Units are seeking used durable medical equipment and supplies for use by indigent and uninsured patients. These patients need a wide variety of supplies from wheelchairs, walkers and crutches, to bedpans, diapers, and toilet chairs, etc.
7) Our Imaging Department is in need of patient transfer/slide boards. The 23 x 72" size run about $220 each.
THANK YOU for the work you are doing! Our Volunteer Auxiliary is happy to be a part of Welcome Home, RGV, and excited about welcoming new members.
