Did you say Remington's?

by Cactus Willie

Chuck_RemingtonsWith all the many restaurants in McAllen it can be hard to make a decision about where to go. Often we overlook some of the best hidden spots that offer great atmosphere and fine dinning. One such place is Remington's located in the Embassy Suites, 1800 South Colonel Rowe Boulevard, McAllen, Texas.

My friends, wife and I recently stopped in to check it out. The Embassy Suites Hotel is beautiful inside with a garden sort of atmosphere that you will go past on the way to Remington's. Trees, fountains and a real peaceful sort of place that makes you feel good. The wait staff saw us as we passed through the bar and seated us and got our drinks quickly. You can have bar drinks as well as the regular offerings. When I first looked at the menu I thought it sounded a little on the upper range for me.  However, what you get is well worth the price you pay. It's not fast food so do not expect a slam bam burger here. Executive Chef Alvaro Marquez serves certified Angus Beef Brand burgers that are cooked to order. Three of us ordered Tex Mex Burgers that comes with your choice of Buffalo Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Waffle Fries, Regular Fries or Onion Rings. Bread choices include Wheat, White, Kaiser, Sourdough or Ciabatta. Be hungry to finish off one of these half pounders. One of our group ordered the Texas Pastrami Melt that came with fruit and was fantastic. Note that they also serve salads, soups and south of the border offerings as well.

Okay what about later in the day. Well Remington's offers twelve ounce Rib eyes Texas T Bones, Lamb Chops, Chicken Picatta, Salmon, Sea Bass and the list goes on. You can bring a family or a group without a problem. Oh, Sunday is their famous buffet with offering to please just about anyone.

We had a great time there and thought that the food was well worth the price and wait staff was attentive and nice. Though the place is really nice casual attire is fine. So if you are looking for something a little different with a group at your park here is a neat little hideaway that deserves a try.
