Phyllis Diller’s – George Bush Texas Broccoli “Thing”

The reason President Bush hates broccoli is because the cook at his home (he was a rich kid) simply boiled it, put it on his plate and said: “Eat it!” Broccoli needs a little selling and a lot of dressing up. This delicious Southwest dish appeals to everyone, even George, because it is irresistibly delicious. This dish can also be served as a dip.

• 2 – 10 oz. pkgs. Frozen chopped broccoli
• 4 green onions, chopped
• 4 ribs celery, chopped
• 2/3 cup margarine
• 2 – 3 oz. cans sliced mushrooms
• 2 – 10-3/4 cans cream of mushroom soup
• 1 – 6 oz. roll garlic cheese
• Worcestershire sauce
• Tabasco sauce
• Salt & Pepper
• Bread Crumbs

Saute broccoli, onions and celery in margarine for 10 to 15 minutes. Add mushrooms, soup, cheese, and seasonings; stir until cheese melts. Pour into 2 quart casserole. Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes. May be frozen before baking.
