The American College of Cardiology has awarded South Texas Health System ER Monte Cristo with the Freestanding Emergency Department Cardiac Care Certificate. Facilities that earn this certification are held to a higher standard of care and service for patients experiencing cardiac-related symptoms, such as chest pain, rapid heart rate and dizziness. South Texas Health System ER Monte Cristo, as well as South Texas Health System ER Mission and South Texas Health System ER Weslaco, are the first freestanding emergency departments in Texas to earn this certification.
